The Manitoba-born musician, known for her work as a singer, percussionist and songwriter with the award-winning 1980s pop group, has carved out an enduring career that continues to this day.

Masi, who grew up as Julie Opocensky on a farm outside Dominion City, says her upbringing helped shape her work ethic and collaborative spirit.

“We all had chores to do on the farm and learned a great work ethic and how to work as a team, which later in life would serve me well, working in bands,” Masi said in an interview with the Sun.
