A Sarnia man recently pleaded guilty to a variety of crimes, getting a 14-month jail sentence.

But Brandon Waters’ short-lived stint on bail, when he and a surety lied about the address at which he’d be living, was one incident that caught the judge’s attention.

“You essentially gave her a B.S. address so you could be released,” Justice Paul Kowalyshyn said. “You deliberately lied to a justice officer.

“I’m not sure it can get a whole lot lower than that.”

Waters got bail on Oct. 17, 2024. He had a curfew between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. and was supposed to be living with his surety, a 49-year-old man, in an apartment building on Sandy Lane, in Point Edward.
