An inquest began Wednesday into the death of Thomas Humphrey Jr., who died in a Chatham hospital in August 2019, following an interaction with Chatham-Kent police officers called by paramedics to assist with a man in medical distress.
The five-person jury has been advised by Dr. Richard McLean, presiding officer of the inquest, that they are not there to determine guilt or assign blame in the matter, but rather to make recommendations to prevent this type of death in the future.
