SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. —

Four people were killed and 16 others wounded when gunfire erupted outside Willie’s Bar and Grill early Sunday as hundreds gathered for an after-party, Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner said at a press conference Wednesday.

Investigators believe two, possibly three, people with an ongoing feud exchanged fire near closing time in the parking lot by the bar’s front steps, striking bystanders in the large crowd.

At least 20 people were shot in the chaos.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified four people killed as A’shan’tek Milledge, 22, of Burton; Amos Gary, 54, of St. Helena; Chiraad Smalls, 33, of Beaufort; and Kashawn Glaze, 22, of Beaufort. All were pronounced dead at the scene.
