LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A Louisville Metro police officer who was suspended from the department after her involvement in a deadly crash has now resigned.
LMPD put out a statement saying Alyssa Begel resigned and the chief accepted that effective Wednesday.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. on April 2.
Police said Begel was called on a run to assist EMS, and while on the way to the scene, she hit a vehicle on Fern Valley Road.
According to LMPD, the man driving the vehicle, 61-year-old Charles Briscoe, turned in front of her. He died at the scene.
Police later confirmed she never activated her lights or sirens as she wove through traffic, and she was speeding.
