LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Louisville Metro Police Department officer involved in a deadly crash has resigned from the department.
In a statement, LMPD said Alyssa Begel submitted her resignation.
On the night of April 2, 2025, Begel was responding to call when her police vehicle hit a car that turned into her path. The man in the other vehicle, Charles Briscoe, 61, died in the collision.
Witnesses said Begel was speeding and did not have her vehicle’s emergency equipment activated.
The case was presented to a grand jury. That panel did not return an indictment in the matter.
LMPD said Begel was serving a 30 day suspension but resigned before that was over.
