MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) - Each public middle and high school in Marion County has a designated room filled with clothes, school supplies, and necessities.

This initiative, known as the Rock Program and was started by Rondo Fernandez, who experienced challenges growing up in Marion County.

The program is to support students by providing free school supplies, clothing, shoes, and other essential items. Since its start in 2017, the Rock Program has been growing.

Rondo Fernandez, the founder, said, “The Rock Program was built out of our experience of the forest.”

His vision was shaped by his own experiences as a student needing an extra hand.

“To go back to the school I attended and start a program at the Rock has been amazing; it feels like a full circle moment,” he shared.
