First the Washington Commanders got back their quarterback. Now, they're about to see "Scary Terry" return from injury, just in time for Spooky Season.
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has missed three straight games, may be returning to game action in Week 7. McLaurin sustained a quad injury during the Commanders' Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, leading to his first week on Washington's inactive list since Week 16 of the 2020 season.
According to Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, McLaurin will practice all of this week before Washington faces the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Quinn noted that the team is "excited where [McLaurin]'s trending."
If all goes well during practice throughout the week, McLaurin should be good to go in Week 7's game.
The Commanders are coming off of a "Monday Night Football" loss to the Chicago Bears, and their game in Dallas Sunday will be their second divisional matchup of the season. Having a healthy starting quarterback and No. 1 receiver will be instrumental in getting them in the win column.
Here's what we know about McLaurin's Week 7 status so far:
Terry McLaurin injury update
McLaurin has missed straight three games this year – the most he's ever missed in a single season – dealing with a quad injury he sustained in Week 3.
Quinn, the Commanders' head coach, told reporters Wednesday that McLaurin will practice throughout this week. Wednesday's practice is a "jog through," but the team will return to full speed practices Thursday and beyond.
All signs point to these practices serving as McLaurin's ramp-up process – getting Washington's lead receiver back up to speed ahead of the team's divisional clash with the Cowboys.
So long as McLaurin continues trending in the right direction, as Quinn has said he is, he should make his return in Week 7.
Terry McLaurin stats
- Targets: 17
- Receptions: 10
- Receiving yards: 149
- Touchdowns: 0
Despite missing three games with his injury, McLaurin still ranks third on the Commanders in receptions this year and fourth on the team in receiving yards. Washington's veteran, No. 1 receiver will be facing an uphill battle to put together a sixth straight 1,000-yard season after missing time.
