It was supposed to be another strong preseason night for the Golden State Warriors. Instead, Jonathan Kuminga’s evening ended with frustration, and well, his first-ever ejection.
During the Warriors’ 118–111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Kuminga got ejected late in the second quarter after arguing a missed foul call. The 23-year-old forward appeared to make slight contact with an official while venting his frustration, enough to get him ejected. He’d logged 18 minutes before the incident, posting 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists on 3-of-5 shooting.
The real story, though, was what triggered his outburst. Per ESPN’s Anthony Slater, Kuminga said the no-call came after Portland’s Deni Avdija clipped his right ankle, the same one he’d badly injured last season.
