LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A person who was rescued from a burning home in Newburg has died.

The fire started early Tuesday morning at a home in the 4200 block of Monticello Ave., which is between Newburg and Shepherdsville Roads.

When firefighters searched the home, they found a person who hadn't escaped and pulled them from the home.

They were taken to a hospital, but later died, Fern Creek Fire Department confirmed.

They were not able to release the person's name, as next of kin have not yet been notified, nor the official cause of their death.

Fire officials also have not yet determined the cause of the fire and say it is still under investigation.
