INDIANAPOLIS -- After spending 48 hours in the hospital, an Indianapolis man has died from gunshot wounds after a shooting over the weekend on the near west side.

Officers were dispatched just before 4 p.m. Sunday to the 1400 block of N Tibbs Avenue on the report of a person shot. Neighbors say they heard two or three gunshots and found the victim lying dead in the middle of the street.

Witnesses say the victim, 40-year-old Clifford Hudson, was standing next to an SUV and talking to the people sitting inside on Sunday afternoon. That's when the victim was shot in the head by the driver of another car, who then sped away from the scene.

Hudson died after two days in the hospital.
