LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Texas man and a Sulphur woman will spend several years behind bars in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed an innocent woman in her home.
Annette Touvell, 65, was shot in the head while watching TV on March 2, 2024. Deputies said the shooters had been driving down Sailfish Drive, near the intersection of Tank Farm and Elliott, south of Lake Charles, and shooting at random houses.
Tyler Deshawn Lewis, of Bridge City, pleaded guilty as charged to negligent homicide and obstruction of justice.
Lewis was originally charged with second-degree murder, but the bill was amended in December 2024, according to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
On Oct. 14, 2025, Lewis was sentenced to five years and 20 years in prison on the negligent homic
