100 Meters follows a pair of disparate runners from youth to adulthood as they face multiple challenges on a fierce quest to be the undisputed champion. Adapted from the Japanese manga series by acclaimed writer and illustrator Uoto, the journey of lead characters Togashi and Komiya is fraught with both physical and psychological distress, as they push their bodies and minds to an existential brink as the search for greatness dominates their lives. Brilliantly hand-drawn in 2D animation, the narrative ebbs and flows as 100 Meters struggles with significant time jumps. The story and characters remain intriguing, but uneven pacing is problematic throughout.
