NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — There will be no need to wake up in a cold sweat, scrambling for your keys in the middle of the night on Monday.

Alternate side parking rules will be suspended in observance of Diwali.

Just because the rules are suspended does not mean tickets can't be handed out. The City reminds drivers that cars parked within 15 feet of a fire hydrant in either direction are in violation of the law and will be ticketed.

Painted curbs near hydrants do not indicate parking areas.

Parking meters stay in effect for all of New York City on Diwali.
