KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A major construction project in Kansas City is almost finished.
The Kansas City Streetcar's Main Street expansion opens to riders in less than 10 days. FOX4 is giving you a first look at the highly anticipated project.
After years of construction, the Main Street extension will open to the public on Oct. 24.
The long-awaited extension will stretch the streetcar from Union Station to 51st Street and Brookside Boulevard near the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Leaders are adding new cars to the line to ensure frequencies stay at every 10-12 minutes, hiring more staff and expanding its hours of service.
The streetcar will now run from 5 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday -- and from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
