GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, two Wisconsin State Representatives are pushing for a new system similar to an Amber Alert to protect victims.
The color purple, according to a release from Rep. Amaad Rivera-Wagner (D-Green Bay), represents peace, courage, survival and hope for Domestic Violence victims and survivors.
The 'Purple Alert' Bill, introduced by Rep. Rivera-Wagner and Rep. Sequanna Taylor (D-Milwaukee), would create a system similar to Amber, Silver and Green Alerts, which are used to help find missing children, seniors and veterans, respectively.
This Purple Alert would allow law enforcement agencies to use the crime alert network to send information statewide to report a missing adult who may be at risk due to domestic violence. The
