TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A local legal aid organization is stretching its resources to meet growing demand while expanding specialized services for veterans.
Southern Arizona Legal Aid said it had more clients come to them after losing Medicaid and SNAP benefits, which is stretching attorneys and paralegals thin. The nonprofit law firm provides free civil legal aid to low-income individuals and families throughout southern Arizona.
The organization is just one of three civil legal aid groups in the state, and the only one serving southern Arizona. The executive director said additional funding will always be needed, but a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs has allowed it to continue one program for another year.
