WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Connecticut high school band is set to perform in Hawaii next year, making it the only Connecticut band invited to the event.

The John F. Kennedy High School Marching Eagles Band is the only competitive marching band in Waterbury.

The Marching Eagles will be performing at the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day Parade in Honolulu on March 29, 2026, as the only Connecticut band to be invited.

They are now in the competition season, gearing up for their trip to Hawaii.

"These guys, they go out and they practice every single week, three times a week, and then they compete on the weekends," Nick Drabik, band director at John F. Kennedy High School, said. "So right now, they are undefeated, and it's been a historic season for us, so we're working really hard."
