Albany, NY (News10) -- It was a packed house at the Albany County Office Building where Albany County Executive Dan McCoy laid out his spending plans for 2026.

A large portion of the plans focuses on the revitalization of Albany's downtown -- which includes opening up the canal, like they did in Saratoga.

McCoy also touted the First-Time Homebuyer Navigator Program to improve access to affordable housing. The program dedicates $240,000 over a possible three-year period to provide assistance with funding, navigating the home-buying process, as well as advice on rehabbing debilitated homes.

He said it’s a lot to balance.

"I don't want to sound like Eminem, the kids will laugh at me, but we do have one shot, one opportunity to get this right, not screw it up," McCoy joked.
