LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KY3) - Arkansas’s Department of Finance and Administration is warning residents about a text message scam targeting bank account information through fake refund offers.

The department has received numerous reports about scammers impersonating state officials and claiming they need bank account details to process refunds. Officials emphasize the finance department will never request bank account information through text messages.

This scam resembles similar fraudulent text campaigns that have targeted residents nationwide, including in Arkansas and Missouri. In those cases, scammers attempted to trick people into paying fabricated traffic tickets or toll fees.
