INDIANAPOLIS — Franklin Township families have a new place to play and connect with the outdoors, thanks to a $2.8 million renovation project.

"It's a huge change," said Kayla Squires, who brought her three kids to see the new park. "The old park, it wasn't much there. But this one, I mean, the kids are going crazy over it."

Squires lives nearby and said it makes a big difference for her family since they used to drive further away to a nicer park. Now, they will come to the Franklin Township Community Park — just a couple of minutes away from home.

"It is just one of six parks in our southern townships that will soon be receiving renovations very similar to the ones you see today," Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said.
