CLINTON COUNTY, Mich. —
A woman who pleaded no contest to crashing her car into a group of pedestrians , killing two, in mid-Michigan will spend minimum 30 years in prison.
Ashley Monroe pleaded to eight counts of counts of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), Causing Serious Injury and one count of second-degree murder for the Clinton County crash.
In May 2024, Monroe was driving on South Wacousta Road near Corrison Road in Watertown Township, according to court documents.
The group of pedestrians, that was a family, was walking along the shoulder of the road when a car, driven by Monroe, hit them.
She then drove off.
Two people were dead at the scene: Johnathan Esch, 30, from Grand Haven and Daniel Harris, 42, from Grand Ledge. A total of 14 others were taken to hospitals for treat
