GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Robert Dykstra prefers to ride his snowmobile during warm weather.
"I can't feel my feet or the backside of my legs," said Dykstra. "I don't know if I'm getting frostbite or not. So, yeah, I don't ride during the winter."
It's because of that loss of feeling in his feet that he's into asphalt racing on his snowmobile in the first place.
In 2012, Dykstra was involved in a snowmobile accident in Hopkins.
"We stopped to play around on a hill that we've done countless times before," said Dykstra. "And as I went off it, the track bit real hard, and the sled came up over backwards and landed on me."
His injury nearly cost him his ability to walk and his life.
