THE WOODLANDS, Texas — A stay-at-home mother from The Woodlands has helped solve a 33-year-old cold case by identifying a Jane Doe whose body was discovered in 1992. That gave a daughter answers about her mother's disappearance.

Katie Thomas, a forensic genealogist and co-founder of the nonprofit Moxxy Forensic Investigations , used DNA analysis and family tree research to identify the victim as Joann Zamora. The discovery allowed Zamora's daughter, Spencer Zamora Graham, to finally learn what happened to her mother, who vanished without explanation decades ago.

Graham and Thomas visited the crime scene in the 500 block of West Rittenhouse on Houston’s north side. Zamora’s body was found less than two miles from her mother's house.
