In just a few months, Chattanooga's airport will soon welcome its newest addition: an aviation park.

The idea was proposed decades ago, but that dream is finally becoming a reality after the airport received a $1.2 million grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield.

"Currently, it’s just an empty hill, but we're going to have multiple playgrounds, a covered pavilion, we'll have a static plane display, and we'll have a World War II memorial,” Jack McAfee, Vice President of Chattanooga Airport Operations, says. “We've got a lot of material storage here right now that’ll be cleared out and graded, and there will be a large green space and walkways.”

The park will be located at Lovell Field, which McAfee says is the airport's highest point, overlooking the aircraft and runways below.
