The best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant for next spring is not to bag your leaves but rather to mow them.
According to TUFC, when you mow your leaves instead of bagging them, the small pieces fall between the blades of grass and break down naturally.
Forestry expert Neil Letson told News 2 the chopped up leaves add nutrients like nitrogen and potassium to the soil, which helps your crass grow stronger in the spring.
Letson added for landfills across Nashville, bags of leaves can be a nuisance for their operations and take up space that could be used for other refuse items.
