WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — Basin Electric Power Cooperative cut the ribbon Oct. 15 on the largest single-site power project built in North Dakota in 40 years.
The Pioneer Generation Station Phase IV adds about 580 megawatts of new natural gas generation northwest of Williston. That’s enough power to serve nearly two to three cities the size of Bismarck-Mandan, according to Basin Electric.
The project brings the site’s total capacity to roughly 800 megawatts, supplying reliable, affordable energy to meet growing demand across the cooperative’s nine-state service area.
