State of Tennessee offering money for parents trying to send their kids to college

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - One way to make it easier to send your kids off to college is by getting money from the state to help with the costs.

The cost of going to college, much like everything else, keeps getting more expensive.

“It’s so expensive that I almost didn’t end up coming here,” Sandra Grissom, a UT Freshman said.

It’s overwhelming for some families and students to even think about going to college. But, there are resources out there to help.

“The cost of college is a whole lot more than just tuition. It’s housing, it’s meal plans, oh my goodness, the meal plans,” Shelli King, Communications Director of The Tennessee Department of Treasury said. “And books, all that, plus of course tuition, and so it does grow every year.”
