CENTRE, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A former Centre police officer has been sentenced in connection to a 2023 case that he was arrested in.

Michael Kilgore admitted in 2024 in a federal plea agreement that he worked with an unnamed co-conspirator in January 2023 when he was a police officer in Centre to plant methamphetamine and other drugs on a person’s car and then arrest them . The scheme was ruined when Kilgore’s co-conspirator turned him in to police, according to a news release.

The two came up with a plan, according to court records, and picked a person to plant drugs on so Kilgore could make a narcotics arrest. The co-conspirator identified a target, purchased and put the drugs, including 1/8 ounce of methamphetamine, 5 Percocet pills, and four or five grams of marijuana in a packag
