Lafayette Christian School is gearing up for its annual Dutch Apple Pie fundraiser, a beloved tradition that has been supporting the school for 31 years. Starting Wednesday, October 15, pies will be available for purchase.
The school's gym has been transformed into what they call the "pie factory" to accommodate the large-scale production. Megan DeYoung, Director of Advancement, said the recipe originated from a former teacher who learned it in Michigan. "It was brought to the school by a former teacher who had learned the recipe in Michigan," DeYoung said.
This year, the school aims to produce over 5,000 pies with the help of hundreds of volunteers, who prepare the frozen pies in just two days. Jessie Maynard, a volunteer, said, "I love the LCS community. It's just got a heart for Jesus
