WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is sounding the alarm about a popular children’s product sold online for years, warning that it poses a deadly risk.
The CPSC is urging parents and caregivers to immediately stop using KOOLDOO Portable Bed Rails after determining the product violates mandatory safety standards and could lead to serious injury or death.
The hazard stems from gaps created when the bed rail is installed alongside a mattress. According to CPSC, the openings can trap a child’s head or body, creating an entrapment risk that has proven fatal in similar cases involving other products.
