AUGUSTA-- What, if any, role did the Department of Health and Human Services play in the case of two family members who were allegedly murdered by their own foster child?

That was the question before Maine's Government Oversight Committee as they met with leadership from the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability today.

OPEGA director, Peter Schleck, responded to questions from the committee and explained the uniqueness of the situation.

According to Schleck, the amount of information OPEGA can release after investigating DHHS could be limited by the fact that the person being charged in this case is a juvenile.

The committee ultimately voted in favor of OPEGA launching a full investigation into DHHS.
