MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Progress Center for Black Women is looking for financial help as it plans to expand in Dane County.

The center is expanding its Ambition Program, a career advancement initiative for Black women.

In order to keep their programming funded, they are launching a new fundraising campaign.

“The work we do here isn’t just about programs or services,” Sabrina Madison, founder and director for the Progress Center for Black Women. “It’s about real people trying to hold their lives together in the middle of systems that too often fail them.”

National data shows nearly 300,000 Black women left the labor force this year.

The State of Working Wisconsin 2025 report shows Black workers in Wisconsin earn significantly less than white workers.
