CLEVELAND, Ohio — Federal prosecutors on Wednesday charged a Cleveland man hours after authorities say he shot a deputy U.S. marshal in the arm as officers tried to arrest him.

Larry Wiley, 49, is charged in federal court in Cleveland with assault on a federal officer with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail and his initial court appearance is set for Thursday in front of U.S. District Magistrate Judge Jennifer Dowdell Armstrong.

Court records do not list any attorneys for Wiley.

The shooting happened about 8 a.m. at an apartment building on East 91st Street and Stewart Avenue in the city’s Glenville neighborhood.
