SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Wednesday was a very special day for one area couple. Arnie and Arlene Berkeland are celebrating 75 years of marriage, and the staff at Avera Prince of Peace hosted a small celebration to honor the big milestone.

“Somebody was telling me they looked for a card for a 75th anniversary and they couldn’t find one,” Arnie said.

The committed couple was surprised by the celebration and filled with gratitude for the turnout.

“It’s overwhelming to be able to see all the people that were able to be here in the middle of the week,” Arnie said.

Arnie and Arline got married in 1950 at the ages of 20 and 21.
