CLINTON COUNTY Mich. (WLNS) - The woman accused of a hit-and-run that killed 2 people and injured 13 others was sentenced Wednesday.
The deadly hit-and-run happened in May of 2024 in Watertown Township. Authorities arrested Ashley Marie Monroe, 35, saying she was driving under the influence when she plowed into a group of people walking along Wacousta Road. Monroe was also pregnant at the time.
Monroe was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison. A plea deal led to the dismissal of 6 charges, including two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, two counts of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, one count of failure to stop at scene resulting in serious impairment and one count of second-degree murder.
