LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Fairdale Fire Protection District is preparing to launch its own Emergency Medical Services Division.

Fairdale Fire Department Chief Carrie Blevins says they will begin with three ambulances that, once staffed, will provide 24/7 coverage across the 33 square miles they cover.

"It's been a long road," said Chief Blevins.

She said a committee studied area responses for 18 months, examining run volume, response times, and EMS unit locations.

In the end, she says move forward on purchasing the ambulances, new equipment, and upgrades, along with personnel.

"Prices keep increasing," Chief Blevins said. "But we're looking to put about $4 million into it."

Chief Blevins stated that the department has secured the necessary funding to launch.
