LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The chief of police has accepted one of his officer's resignations Wednesday.
A Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) spokesperson said both the department's Public Integrity Unit and the Professional Standards Unit finished their investigation into Alyssa Begel's involvement in a fatal collision that happened on Fern Valley Road April 2.
Police Chief Paul Humphrey had originally determined a 30-day suspension was appropriate, but Begel resigned before that, according to the spokesperson.
Begel was speeding on Fern Valley Road to assist with an emergency request for help from EMS crews when she crashed into another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, 61-year-old Charles Briscoe, died at the scene.
