The new owner of Plymouth’s historic Merchant’s House will be faced with more than £350,000 of vital repairs to the Grade II* listed building, a report says. Plymouth City Council is close to signing a deal with an as-yet unnamed new owner for the freehold of the 16th Century building.
A key report, seen by PlymouthLive, reveals the building, in St Andrew’s Street, is in “fair" to "poor” condition and high-priority works are needed on it. These were valued at £367,100 in the report.
Of this, £224,300 of work was considered “unavoidable” and needed immediate attention, with £113,100 “urgent” and “essential”, and the remainder “necessary”.
