In a pre-dawn attack on Thursday, heavily armed insurgents launched an assault on a Company Operating Base (COB) of the Assam Rifles near Manmao in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, injuring two personnel.

According to top Assam Rifles officials, the ambush was carried out around 3:30 AM by a joint group of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K-YA) and the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-Independent), both proscribed insurgent outfits with a known history of operating in the Indo-Myanmar border region.
