ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (13 News) - Oro Valley is raising fees and considering new taxes to make up for a revenue deficit.
The council voted Wednesday night to increase its parks and recreation fees and to continue to look into a stormwater utility fee increase.
But the proposed new taxes are still up in the air.
The need for more money all comes down to two things: maintaining public safety and road maintenance.
Those costs have risen to the point where they’re eating into the town’s general fund.
Officials said the proposed use, commercial rental, and telecommunications taxes would remedy that, but the community is still far from sold on the proposal.
