LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The City of Henderson wants residents to be aware of a utility scam making the rounds.

Individuals have been spotted posing as City of Henderson employees, claiming they need to test residents' home water for contaminants.

"City of Henderson Utility Services staff will not show up unannounced or demand to enter your home to test water," a post on the city's social media page read on Wednesday. "If someone shows up at your door claiming to be from the city and you're unsure, do not let them in."

The city also posted photos of certified employees and vehicles, both of which show the official City of Henderson logo.

Utility service employees may wear either white or tan shirts and may also wear yellow safety vests.
