Mercer County, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has approved more than $5.7 million in low-interest loans to support critical water infrastructure projects in Mercer County.

The Upper Shenango Valley Water Pollution Control Authority will receive a $5.1 million loan to upgrade an existing gravity sewer lining along the Shenango River in Hermitage and South Pymatuning Township.

Additionally, the Borough of Greenville will receive a $261,148 loan to install new stormwater conveyance infrastructure. Due to limited stormwater capacity, areas near Lancaster Avenue and Lebanon Avenue have experienced flooding caused by the flat topography, particularly during heavy rainfall events.
