Nestle, the Swiss food and beverage giant behind brands such as Nespresso coffee, Perrier water, Kit Kat chocolate, and Purina pet food, announced on Thursday (October 16, 2025) that it will eliminate 16,000 jobs worldwide over the next two years.

The decision comes as the company seeks to accelerate its transformation under its new chief executive, Philipp Navratil, who assumed the role in early September.

“The world is changing, and Nestle needs to change faster,” Navratil said in a statement. He added that the job cuts were part of “hard but necessary decisions to reduce headcount” and streamline operations in response to shifting market conditions.
