A January article of mine reviewed several books that I have read that might be of interest to gardeners. Among them were a couple of books by Margaret Renkl, a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. She has written three books taken from essays she started writing to deal with grief from the death of her mother followed shortly by her mother-in-law entering hospice care.

Ms. Renkl pays close attention to nature and calls herself a backyard naturalist. Her observations of nature right at home not only allow her to understand nature better but also help her understand herself better, allowing her to cope with the ups and downs that we all incur.
