Ola Electric has ventured into a new industry with the launch of its battery energy storage solution (BESS) named ‘Ola Shakti’. The company, best known for its electric two-wheelers, continues to expand its technological capabilities, from lithium-ion cell manufacturing with the Bharat 4680, to recently securing government certification for its rare-earth-free ferrite motor developed in-house.
With its entry into the BESS market, Ola Electric expects its annual consumption for energy storage systems to scale up to 5 GWh over the next couple of years.
The company says Ola Shakti can power everything from residential set-ups to grid-scale deployments, all built on the same 4680 Bharat Cell technology platform and manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory.
