Chicago's " Rat Hole " may not actually be a rat hole at all, according to a new study.
Chicago is known for deep-dish pizzas, museums, the famous statue nicknamed the Bean, and, of course, the Roscoe Village "Rat Hole."
The decades-old imprint, which looks like a giant rat, first went viral in January 2024 after a photo of it was posted online. Tourists and locals alike paid tribute to the sidewalk where the "Rat Hole" is located.
But looks can be deceiving, and people might have been wrong about what kind of rodent made the now-famous imprint.
On Oct. 15, the Royal Society published a study suggesting that the now-famous imprint was more than likely a different kind of rodent. This conclusion came after researchers compared the imprint to eight other species that live in the area
