A retired Massachusetts State Police sergeant described by prosecutors as “the very embodiment of public corruption” was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for plotting to rig commercial driver’s license tests in exchange for gifts, ranging from cases of bottled water and candy to a home driveway renovation.

Gary Cederquist, 60, of Stoughton, who was one of four troopers charged in the case in January 2024 and the only one to go to trial, was also ordered to pay a $30,000 fine and make restitution of $18,300.
