AVON, Ohio — Emergency crews have contained a chemical release at ReWorld, a sustainable waste management facility on Schneider Court in Avon.

Authorities confirm that all evacuations have been lifted and there is no ongoing risk to public health or safety.

The incident began around 9 a.m. when ReWorld reported a chemical release during routine neutralization procedures.

The release produced a light-colored vapor cloud, prompting an immediate response from the Avon Fire Department and the Lorain County Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) team.

Avon Fire Chief David Swope said during a press conference that initial testing showed no corrosives or dangerous acids had been released into the atmosphere.
