JACKSON TWP. ‒ Stark Parks hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 10 at Tam O’Shanter Park, 5055 Hills & Dales Road NW, to celebrate major improvements to the property that was once home to the Tam O'Shanter Golf Course.

The former golf course , which has hiking trails on the 200-acre property, was acquired by the park district at the end of 2018.

The project included renovations to the clubhouse, featuring new flushable toilets funded by Visit Canton, as well as enhancements to parking areas and trail surfaces made possible through Ohio Department of Transportation and Clean Ohio grants.

As part of the celebration, a tree was planted in honor of the late state Sen. Kirk Schuring, recognizing the impact that he had in Stark County.
